Last Saturday marked my return to portrait photography, at least in the rowdy communal sense, as there was a meetup of the StreetMeet photographer/model group.  Yes, it was a cold, grey, sometimes rainy winter day, but the location at Pier 66 downtown offered plenty of overhangs, underpasses, and glassed-in footbridges to retreat to, when the skies chased us reluctantly off the great wide pavilion with stunning vistas of the Sound and city.
Despite the season and the weather there was a big turnout, and as always the vibe was a lot of fun, with photographers suggesting locations, models dashing into position and (briefly) throwing off their coats, one guy trying to find a metal surface for his magnetic LED, then a dozen lenses jostling for an angle and everyone with an 85mm portrait lens pausing as the one guy with a Fujifilm X100 rushed in close to get his shots.
It had been a long layoff for me, but I pretty much remembered the portraiture ropes.  Will any of the shots below bump their way onto my site's main portrait page?  I'll have to sit on them a while to know.
