The excuse to bring this blog out of a temporary dormancy is a mundane event: my job relocated to a new office.  I worked in the Seattle downtown core and I continue to: the grand effect of all the packing, rewiring, disruption, etc., was to shift from one faceless tower to another two blocks away.  But for me, the result was to reinvigorate an old passion: Urban Abstract photography!
Yes, that's a misnomer -- these aren't really abstracts -- but it's too late to change it.  The shtick consists of telephoto closeups of weird city structures from above: rooftops, ventilation machines, stairs, doors, reflections, gaps, perspectives, etc., all called out by the dramatic play of light and shadow.  I don't know why I find these things fascinating but I do.
At our old office that photography fixation/project died a natural death as after a few years I'd quite simply photographed every nook I could see.  This move to a new (even slightly different!) viewpoint was like Christmas.
It's still early days in terms of exploring the new views and the seasonal changes of light.  Here are a few preliminary efforts.
